For inspiration Nemoland turned to Africa to reconnect with something the West has largely lost: a living relationship between myth, nature, ritual and daily life.

African sources

  • The earth is a living being, to listen to and co-create with.
  • Ritual connects visible and invisible worlds through music, movement and trance.
  • During rituals people can embody a spirit double — a practice known as twinning.
  • Ancestors are active forces to protect and heal the community.
  • Life unfolds not as a straight line but as a cycle and a spiral to the Zone of Myth.
  • Traditions are dynamic and continuously evolving new creations.
  • The stranger or unexpected guest may carry spiritual meaning.

In essence

This is not imitation, but activation. Nemoland is a space where African inspiration helps Europe to rediscover its own forgotten mythical roots. In our times of crisis, this is not an escape but an alternative way of seeing, relating and healing.
